A Winter Day by Canadian composer Sarah Quartel presented by the Unicantors with guest musicians
Our theme for December offers an invitation to presence, urging us to experience the here and now instead of thinking about the past or fretting about the future. Being present requires practice and attention, giving importance to taking in all that every moment of every day has to offer. A Winter Day takes the listener on a musical journey through different moments in a single winter day in Canada. Composer Sarah Quartel masterfully sets the poetry of Sara Teasdale, Lucy Maud Montgomery, and Melville Cane to music to evoke the experience of those moments from the quiet of a starry night to dawn to morning to sunny midday to snow as evening falls. Come join us and let yourselves be present in the musical moment this Sunday!
