During the Sunday service, children from birth through kindergarten gather in classroom 25. This group is led by church staff member, Lauren Smith, with the help of a rotating group of volunteers from the congregation. A typical Sunday morning for this group includes free play time in our classroom, a review of our 7 principles, lighting our chalice, and sharing a snack together. During free play time, children can choose from a variety of toys in the classroom as well as activities designed around that month’s church theme. When weather permits, this group may also spend time outdoors on our fully-enclosed private playground adjacent to our classroom.

On the first Sunday of each month, we have “Children’s Chapel”, a slightly more structured format which introduces the theme for the month. In addition to our usual chalice lighting, we take extra time to explore the month’s theme through stories, discussion, and song.

Children need not be potty-trained to join us in the nursery; staff and volunteers handle diaper changes and help young ones who are potty-training to use the bathroom in our classroom. For those children who are old enough, a snack is provided mid-morning.
