Friday Update

“The Ocean I Travel”
June 11, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. Online and in-person

Rev. Dr. Matthew Johnson
One of our greatest sources of delight is the natural world.  185, Ralph Waldo Emerson began the famous Divinity School Address with the words: “In this refulgent summer, it has been a luxury to draw the breath of life.” Reflections on delight, our earthly home, interdependence, and what this can teach us about the holy and ourselves.

Order of Service

We will share the plate with Severson Dells
Our mission is to link people to nature through education and research in the northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin area. We promote awareness of the natural world, fostering respect, enjoyment and preservation now and in the future.

Hi friends!

I’m absolutely THRILLED that we will be hosting the legendary Holly Near in concert, with her trio of musicians, on Thursday, July 20th, at 7 pm.  Holly Near is a prolific singer/songwriter and peace and justice activist.  You know her song, “We Are a Gentle Angry People.”  This is a real treat to have her here.  Please come and be part of this special event.

Advance tickets are required – $25/ticket.  You can buy your ticket(s) and learn more about Holly Near here: https://uurockford.breezechms.com/form/8ffe3d.

Please spread the word and invite your friends to come as well!

In faith,
Matthew

WCCC will be hosting two pro-choice political leaders on June 13th at 6:30pm at the Unitarian Church.  Sen. Steve Stadelman will discuss the main issues of the recent session in Springfield including S.B. 1909 which is the new law that deals with the “Crisis
Pregnancy centers” which deceive women seeking abortions. There are over 1,000 in our state, one is just around the corner from our new clinic.
We will also be happy to welcome City Council Member Karen Hoffman, who will discuss current laws on the local level of interest to us.
Don’t miss this very interesting meeting!
Barb Giolitto, WCCC President
