Throughout history, people have claimed that wealth and power are a consequence or a sign of spiritual blessing. It is the gods, or God, who has made them profitable. But others have said that it is more important to be prophetic than to make a profit. We’ll explore the relationship between faithfulness and “the bottom line.”

The Liam Foundation provides services for all persons within our LGBTQIA+ community by offering safe and welcoming facilities for our community; providing support, services and resources that take special consideration to the needs of our community; mentoring our community in life skills to persons with special needs, and or at-risk behaviors and or circumstances in our community; promoting the overall health and well-being of our community; continually educating ourselves and the community at large on issues that pertain to our community; and sponsoring, hosting and or participating in events and activities that promote our community. This Sunday is our annual meeting, right after church. Please plan to attend. If you are in person, just stay in the sanctuary – we’ll start 5 minutes after worship. If you have children in RE, please go and get them – they can come to the meeting, or perhaps caregivers can collectively designate someone to be on the playground with them. Rockford Area Gun Violence
The horrific mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas has reiterated the need for us to work together to find solutions to the violence.
Gun Violence Prevention Forum: “Together We Can Find Solutions to This Community Epidemic” presented by the League of Women Voters of Greater Rockford on Tuesday, June 14 at Second First Church, 318 N. Church Street from 6 – 8PM.
Panelists include: Mayor Tom McNamara, Jennifer Cacciapaglia, Director of Mayor’s Office on Domestic and Community Violence Prevention, Rockford Police Chief Carla Redd, State’s Attorney J. Hanley, State Representative Maurice West, County Board Chairman Joe Chiarelli and LWVIL Chair GVP State Committee Jim McGrath.
Panelists will have 2-3 minutes for opening comments, followed by a time for Q & A. Attendees will have an opportunity to share their ideas on how our community can be involved to help.
