Finding Our UU Center
January 29, 2023, at 10:00 a.m.Onlineand in-person Rev. Marcus Fogliano
In 2017 the Unitarian Universalist Association set out on a journey to find our center: that which calls us as a congregation to associate with congregation across the globe. The Rev. Marcus Fogliano, Project Manager to the Office of the President of the Unitarian Universalist Association, will lead us through this journey to the central values the Article II Study Commission has presented for our consideration.
We will Share the Plate with RAMM Rockford Association for Minority Management (RAMM) started in May 1980. The purpose of the organization was to correct the lack of diversity in Business Management. Matthew’s Memo
I’m thrilled to welcome Rev. Marcus to the pulpit on Sunday. He’ll be talking about what’s at the center of our shared faith, as articulated by the Article Two Study Commission: Love. The Article Two Commission has published its final report to the UUA Board. I encourage you to read this report: https://www.uua.org/files/2023-01/a2sc_rpt_01172023.pdf. The whole report gives you the background and process for their work. The new recommendations start on page 20.
I’ll preach about this myself in February, and we’ll have a wonderful Wednesday about this in April, to prepare us to vote in June. So reading the report will prepare you well.
This year, General Assembly is in Pittsburg, June 21-25. It will be also online. If you would like to attend, either in-person or online, please let me or Teresa Wilmot, our denominational affairs coordinator, know. We have seven delegate slots and we’d love to use them all! In addition to the important Article 2 conversations, there is an election for UUA President and other great worship services, workshops, and programs.
In faith,
Matthew
