Partnerships
Winnebago County Citizens for Choice
We believe that all people deserve the right to make informed choices about their own reproductive health. We support Winnebago County Citizens for Choice and also serve as the meeting place for most of their gatherings, including their meetings on the 4th Wednesday of each month. For more information, contact Barb Giolitto at BGPG1@sbcglobal.net.
League of Women Voters
Democracy is a core value of Unitarian Universalists, and we believe that people should be informed and involved to protect these rights. Many church members are involved with the League of Women Voters, which is open to people of all genders. The group meets every month, with some meetings taking place at the church. For more information, contact Wanda Hoover at wanda416@att.net.
Rockford Urban Ministries
We are a member congregation of Rockford Urban Ministries, along with two dozen other community churches. RUM coordinates work camp projects to rehab homes in Rockford each summer. They also organize numerous panels, speakers, and workshops on poverty, immigration, gun control, criminal justice, and a host of other social justice issues. For more information, contact Jon McGinty (fotojon42@frontier.com) or Stanley Campbell (peaceman50@aol.com).
Justice For Our Neighbors
We are committed to immigration justice and the fair and decent treatment of all people, regardless of their nation of origin or immigration status. We support Justice For Our Neighbors, a free legal-aid clinic for immigrants, which is led by the Methodist Church. For more information, contact David Black at dblack107@gmail.com.
Cornucopia Food Pantry
For decades, a group of volunteers from our church has worked one Saturday a month at Cornucopia Food Pantry to help provide meals for people in the area. For more information, contact Dick Lake (dicklake43@gmail.com) or Myrna Lake (lakemyrna@gmail.com).
