To Whom Do You Belong?
September 7, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Online and in-person
Rev. Bret Lortie & Rev. Joyce Palmer Belonging is complex. It’s not fitting in at all cost or giving up something of yourself. And it’s not running roughshod through a place to make it your own. This is the paradox of belonging. Brene Brown writes it takes courage to experience true belonging because it is not just about braving a wilderness (of people, new ideas, a community), but becoming the wilderness. It’s about breaking down walls, abandoning our ideological bunkers, and living from our wild hearts rather than our weary hurts. We will have a water ceremony and backpack blessing.
We will share the plate with Rock River Valley Pantry
The Rock River Valley Pantry (RRVP) continues to serve the community, providing emergency food to those in the community that would otherwise go hungry. To accomplish this:
We continue to seek out and acquire the resources needed to serve our clients.
We provide food that results in a balanced diet, enough for four days for each member of the receiving household.
We use our current partnerships and always seek new partnerships to help us maintain the food supplies necessary to serve our clients.
Our community of donors deserves our thanks and every dollar truly makes a difference in our ability to accomplish our mission. In addition to the monetary donations that allow us to purchase needed food items we have a valued relationship with many of the grocery and specialty stores in this community. Daily, these stores set aside food items, all usable, that the Pantry rescues and passes on to our clients. Click Here to Donate
Dear Friends,
September 7 is our Homecoming Sunday. This Sunday is also a Welcome Sunday as we join together to welcome Rev. Bret Lortie into our Church Community!
This is a crucial period for our beloved Church Community and for each of us. It is an opportunity to open our arms and hearts to welcome possibility.
As we bring our separate vials of water with us in order to pour them together, let us make room for that new river of possibility awaiting all of us over the coming year.
Love,
Wendy Bennett
