Advent for Buddha
November 30, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Online and in-person

The beginning of Advent and the celebration of the Buddha’s enlightenment both happen in the beginning of December, and they’ve always been a favorite holiday “mash up” for me. What is the nature of the light we await through the season of Advent? What is the enlightenment the Buddha sought as he sat beneath the Bodhi tree? Perhaps, once again, different traditions speak to the same human impulse and offer similar insights.

We will share the plate with Severson Dells
Our mission is to link people to nature through education and research in the northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin area. We promote awareness of the natural world, fostering respect, enjoyment and preservation now and in the future.

Sunday 11.30.25, following the church service.
We need 5 or 6 volunteers this Sunday
1. Remove the triptych panels and relocate them to storage.
2. Hang the wreaths. Above the entry doors, on the organ, and the main wall of the Sanctuary.
3. Bring the tree into the sanctuary and put it up in the new stand. The original stand will also be available if the new stand does not seem to be sufficient.
4. Tree lighting: At the helpers discretion and time availability. Lights and tree skirt will be in the Sanctuary on Sunday 11.30.25.

MELD Donation Collection 

We will be holding our annual holiday collection to support Rockford MELD again this year.  You are invited to choose an ornament from the tree with an item requested by a family listed on the back of it.  You may choose more than one ornament.  Once you have purchased the items listed on the ornament, place them in the bin in the narthex designated for MELD donations.  Please do not wrap the items that you donate. Contact Lindsay with any questions reuurockford@gmail.com.

 Donations will be collected through Sunday, December 14.
