We Are Heretics: Pelagianism
August 3, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Online and in-person
Rev. Dr. Matthew Johnson
To finish out, I am beginning a three-sermon series on the prime heresies of Unitarian Universalism. We embrace these heresies as core to who we are and what we hold true. We begin with Pelagianism, the idea that each person reflects God’s nature, as does the natural world – that creation is not “fallen”, but good and beautiful and a window to the holy. Timm Adams joins us for music.
We will share the plate with Severson Dells Our mission is to link people to nature through education and research in the northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin area. We promote awareness of the natural world, fostering respect, enjoyment and preservation now and in the future. Click Here to Donate

Dear friends,
I have some very exciting news! We have chosen an Interim Minister who begins work at our church on 9/2/25. Make sure to come to church this Sunday to learn who will be joining our team.
This would not have been possible without the input and expertise of the Board and the Transition Team: Matt Menze, Steve Lewis, Kendra Asbury, and Diane Kuehl. Thank you all for your time and dedication. Everyone worked very hard to make our needs known at the national level, get input from our wonderful professional staff, which enabled us to choose an individual who brings experience and insight to the task before us.
The Interim period — a short 2 years—is an exciting one. I, for one, am looking forward to this opportunity to say good bye to the past, with gratitude, evaluate where we are today, and, with your help, usher in a new era for our church family.
In faith,
Wendy Bennett
President
