 UU Who’s Who?
featuring Rebecca Beneditz (current Board Trustee)

Question 1: What do you enjoy about being a member of the Board?
Answer: I enjoy adding my perspective to the Board discussion. This year, I am the youngest member of the Board and the only one with young kids. I think that is a valuable perspective. I also enjoy getting to know the other Board members. It has given me the chance to interact with and become friends with people I may not have otherwise!

Question 2: How did you get your position?
Answer: I was approached by Amanda Tapfield (former president and member of the Nominating Panel at the time) and asked if I would be interested in filling an unexpired at-large term on the Board. The first meeting I attended was in December of 2022.

Question 3: What was the first position you volunteered for at the church?
Answer:  I joined the Eco Justice team when it first began in 2022, and I started on the Board soon after. Since then, I have volunteered in lots of ways, including helping with the auction and volunteering with the RE program. I would encourage everyone to find some way to volunteer. It is mutually beneficial—the church needs lay leadership, and it helps build deeper personal connections with members of this wonderful community.

Please nominate someone to help serve the church at: nominating@uurockford.org
Feel free to reach out with any questions, taking nominations until the end of March. We’ve already started reaching out surveys for some nominees!
