Dr. Tim Anderson

Dr. Tim Anderson (He/Him/His) became the Music Director in August 2004, the most recent chapter in a church music career spanning more than forty years. Outside of church music, Tim has worked professionally as Music Director for productions by Artists' Ensemble Theater, Madison Repertory Theatre, New American Theater, and Rockford College. He recently stepped down after ten years as Director of the Camerata Emanon Singers, a select vocal chamber group based in Rockford. Tim has also provided accompaniment for various musical groups over the years, including Camerata Emanon, Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center, Bach Chamber Choir, and Rockford Symphony Orchestra. He is a Past Dean of the Rockford Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and served for many years as their Treasurer/Registrar. He also served terms as Treasurer and President of the Unitarian Universalist Musicians' Network, now the Association of Unitarian Universalist Music Ministries, the international professional organization for Unitarian Universalist musicians. His hymn “A Just Peace” has been selected for inclusion in the new Unitarian Universalist hymnal, Sing Out Love.

A native of rural Northwest Illinois, Tim has taught philosophy and Spanish at several colleges in the area and recently retired from Kishwaukee College as an Associate Professor of Philosophy. He holds a B.A. in mathematics from Rockford College, an M.A. in philosophy from Washington University in St. Louis, an M.A. in Spanish from Middlebury College, and a Ph.D. in Hispanic Studies (Linguistics Track) from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He also holds a graduate certificate in Religions of the World from Harvard University Extension School.
